Old Settlers Boulevard Extension Adds an East–West Connection |
A completed roadway includes paths, sidewalks and a new CR 110 crossing |
Round Rock and Williamson County marked completion of the Old Settlers Boulevard Extension with a ribbon-cutting ceremony September 21.
The nearly mile-long segment links North Red Bud Lane and County Road 110, adding an east–west route in northeast Round Rock.
The approximately $23.4 million project includes a four-lane divided road, a center median and twin bridges across McNutt Creek.
It also provides a 10-foot shared-use path on one side and a six-foot sidewalk on the other.
A new traffic signal and crosswalk at County Road 110 add a crossing point to the completed connection.
The city says the extension is expected to ease some traffic pressure on U.S. 79, but the completion announcement does not provide measured travel-time savings.
Long-range plans envision continuing Old Settlers Boulevard toward State Highway 130; that future connection is separate from the segment just completed.
City and county funding supported the project, with Williamson County reporting a $7.7 million contribution through its 2019 road bond.
For drivers, the practical change is another route to consider, subject to current signs and traffic conditions.
People walking or cycling can review the new path connections when planning trips through the area.
