Commuters using CapMetro Rail should review their weekday routine starting Monday, October 12, rather than relying on a departure time saved earlier in the fall.

CapMetro’s new weekday rail schedule removes two early trips and changes the final northbound departure, with the agency saying the adjustments are intended to improve reliability.

The changes matter most to people whose regular journey depends on one of the affected departures.

Three specific adjustments

The service alert eliminates the second weekday southbound departure from Leander, previously listed at 6:07 a.m.

It also removes the second weekday northbound departure from Downtown, previously listed at 7:20 a.m.

The last northbound weekday departure from Downtown moves approximately 20 minutes later to 7:42 p.m.

These times identify affected terminal departures, not the departure time at every station along the route.

Someone boarding at an intermediate stop needs to check the row for that station in the updated timetable.

Weekdays and Saturdays differ

CapMetro says the Saturday schedule is unchanged.

The adjustments remain in place for the rest of the service period until the January service change scheduled for Sunday, January 10, 2027.

The linked timetable identifies an effective period beginning October 12, 2026 and ending January 9, 2027.

Its notes mark eliminated trips and adjusted times, so pay attention to those markings when reading a downloaded copy.

A time shown as part of a marked eliminated column should not be treated as an available departure.

Check the whole connection

For Round Rock residents connecting to the rail system, a change at the train leg may also affect the drive, bus ride or walk that gets them to the station.

Review both directions of travel, particularly when returning from a fixed evening appointment.

CapMetro encourages affected riders to consider Express or local bus service.

The agency describes Express buses as connecting Round Rock and other communities to Austin with limited stops, but the suitable route depends on the rider’s origin and destination.

Use the trip planner to compare a complete journey rather than assuming any bus is a direct substitute for a particular train.

Bus timepoints are selected scheduled stops, and the agency recommends arriving at a bus stop at least five minutes early.

Check fare requirements for the service you select before buying a ticket or pass.

A small schedule change can require a larger change in a daily routine when work, childcare or another connection has a fixed time.

Riders needing help can call the GO Line at 512-474-1200.
